French/English Word Puzzle
There are two words, one in English, the other in French, which have precisely the same meaning and are both derived from the same Latin word, yet which do not have a single letter in common. What are they?
The English "bishop" and the French "évêque", both derived from the Latin "episcopus".
Squaring this word in English is a challenge posed by none other than Charles Babbage and resolved some 130 years later at Fourmilab.
