Oops!
Memo to file: when leaving a cylindrical bale of straw along the road at the top of a hillside wheat field awaiting pickup by wagon, be sure to turn it so the flat side faces downslope. We get violent thunderstorms in the summer in
Lignières, and yesterday's unleashed a gust of wind which triggered the conversion of potential into kinetic energy pictured above. Fourmilab is in the cluster of buildings at the left in this photo—thank goodness the bale didn't keep on rolling and accreting wheat like a cartoon snowball!
