Eclipse 2000: View from SOHO EIT
Back to Totality Composite Production Notes.

This image was captured at 12:38 UTC on June 21, 2000 by the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) spacecraft's Extreme ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (EIT) at the 30.37 nm wavelength of singly ionised Helium (He II). North is up in the SOHO image. For use in the totality composite, the image was rotated, scaled, and cropped at the Sun's limb. The active region and large prominence at the 10 o'clock position in this SOHO image appears at the 3 o'clock position in the photos taken from Zambia and the composite.
